Malbec 2017
Catena
Malbec 2017

Catena’s extremely high-elevation vines in Maipú, Lujan de Cuyo, Tupungato, and San Carlos (some up to 80 years old) supply this “dense and refined” Malbec with the power and intensity to make it the #3 “Bestseller” on Vivino. Richly concentrated with black and blue fruit—wow!

Q: “What Catena wines do you reach for most for everyday drinking?”
A: “Catena Malbec is what I call our Chanel #5. It is always delicious, from any vintage. We make a blend from our family’s vineyards at different altitudes and every year we change a little the percentages to keep the wine’s classic flavor. I could identify it in any blind tasting. It is always rich and smooth and with beautiful bright acidity.”

Malbec Argentino 2017
Catena Zapata
Malbec Argentino 2017

High-altitude Old Vine Malbec from the folks who do it best! Hundreds of reviews that speak nothing but praise for this fabulous wine. Seriously sophisticated juice for under $100! One of the truly great wines of the world that deserves a spot in your collection.

Q: What Catena wines do you reach for most for special occasions?
A: I am currently in love with the Malbec Argentino from old vines which has a label that tells the story of Malbec from the Middle Ages to today. I also love an old vintage of Nicolás Catena Zapata, named after my father, which is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec and which ages beautifully.

“Built on a panoramic scale but full of energy and enormous refinement” – James Suckling

Don’t think we’ve ever seen a wine described as panoramic before, but James nails it – the Lafite of the Southern Hemisphere it is as sprawling and inspiring as the Andes Mountains from which it comes. The recipe that defeated the world’s top wines in blind tastings!
